Lights, Camera, Sustainability: RoseVilla Featured on Advancements with Ted Danson

RoseVilla Senior Living, a leader in sustainable, climate-resilient retirement communities, is stepping into the national spotlight. RoseVilla’s 22-acre campus will be featured on an upcoming episode of Advancements with Ted Danson – a nationally televised series, which is known for highlighting developments in technology, innovation, and sustainability.

Why RoseVilla?

We were selected to participate in this segment because RoseVilla is reimagining the way senior living communities care for the planet and future generations. Our Portland, Oregon based campus operates like a small town: vibrant, walkable, and deeply connected to nature. Sustainability and resilience are woven into the fabric of our community, from the way we build our homes to the way our Residents and Team Members live and work. Sustainability at RoseVilla isn’t just a practice—it’s a commitment at a core level of who we are.

“As our population ages and climate change accelerates, the stakes for how we care for one another and the planet have never been higher,” said RoseVilla CEO Glen Lewis. “At RoseVilla, we’re creating a place where older adults don’t just live longer, they live better, thriving in a community designed for health, purpose, and a lighter footprint on the earth.”

Innovations at RoseVilla You’ll See on Advancements

Advancements will share how RoseVilla is modeling eco-friendly, healthy aging environments through:

  • Net-zero energy neighborhoods: Resident homes built to Passive House standards, producing as much energy as they consume through solar panels, super-tight building envelope, triple-pane tilt-open windows, and high energy-efficient appliances.
  • ROSIE (Recycled Organic Stuff is Everywhere): A water conservation system designed to filter and reuse greywater, saving over 300,000 gallons of potable water annually.
  • Campus-wide composting and recycling programs: A collaboration of Residents and Team Members working to minimize waste and foster a culture of environmental responsibility across RoseVilla’s campus.
  • Resident-led Green Team and climate initiatives: Residents lead the charge on policies and programs that address climate change and promote sustainable living, increasing RoseVilla’s organizational resilience and community impact.

Andrew Stuhl, senior producer for the Advancements, says, “We look forward to spreading the wisdom shared by RoseVilla Residents and hope that others will be inspired to create similar models that reinforce sustainable development and design.”
