Creative Arts at Rose Villa (CARV) is an initiative driven by residents and staff with the goal to build and strengthen community through creative practices. This means that we strive to increase access and meaningful engagement with visual, performative, musical, and literary arts at our nonprofit, senior living community. Creativity is ageless and it is a characteristic we all share. Therefore, CARV programming supports the creative interests of our seniors while simultaneously generating unique opportunities for our staff to collaborate with residents and co-participate in intergenerational arts activities, performances and exhibitions. Community is at the heart of everything we do at Rose Villa, and creative expression is a cornerstone of our culture.
In addition to supporting the creative wellbeing of our residents and staff, CARV invites professional regional artists to become a part of our community by participating in exhibition or performance opportunities, our visiting artist series, teaching opportunities, our artist-in- residence program, studio visits with residents (to their studios or ours), development committees, and live theatre productions. We are also beginning to work with local community partners to co-facilitate opportunities that offer at-risk or marginalized populations (including seniors), voice and visibility.
