THE FLOURISH
PROJECT
Sustainable & Socially Responsible
We want to see the whole world bloom.
RoseVilla has always marched to the beat of our own drum, and in the Flourish Project, we dance together toward sustainability. It’s at the root of all we do. Because planting the seeds for future RoseVillians is a critical piece of a life lived in full bloom. Our mission is organic, and always active as we pursue organizational resiliency on an ongoing basis.

Here are the three tenets of the Project:

Practice Regenerative Living
Organic growth is in our DNA. Sustainability at RoseVilla isn’t just a practice—it’s a commitment at a core level of who we are. As part of our regenerative living practice, we go far beyond recycling. From gardening to rainwater gathering, we nurture the earth through thoughtful actions and innovative solutions. Together with our Residents, we’ve built a community rooted in purpose, care, and connection, and that expresses itself in how we restore and replenish the piece of Mother Earth that we get to call home.

Cultivate a Culture of Care
It’s not unusual for senior living communities to spend a lot of time caring for seniors. What’s groundbreaking about RoseVilla is that we often spend just as much time thinking about how we can care for the world around us. Spend a day here and you’ll see residents coming together to amplify our effect on people both in and outside of our walls. It’s all part of what makes RoseVilla unique—we’ve built a community committed to caring not just for ourselves, but for others. With the Flourish Project we do that through service projects, cause-based outreach, and projects that lift up the marginalized.

Bear Fruit In Our Community
We’re a community of people entwined on a mission to champion life. Not life inside our walls— we champion life for ALL. And together, we’re able to speak life into others in ways that we never could as individuals—we’re able to effect change at the life trajectory level. It’s an age-old story that’s still alive here. It’s the reason we’ve gathered around fire pits and water holes for millennia: We’re stronger together. See the five ways the Flourish Project impacts the world below.
Sustainability In Action
Every initiative we take is driven by one clear vision: to ensure future generations inherit a planet that thrives. Here are a few important ways we’re doing that (click each one to learn more):
ROSIE, Our Greywater Reclamation System
Innovating water conservation, ROSIE (Recycled Organic Stuff is Everywhere) filters water used for washing and bathing and repurposes it for irrigation and flushing, saving over 300,000 gallons of potable water annually.
Backyard Habitat Certifcation
Our grounds flourish with native and pollinator plants, benefiting local ecosystems and creating an inviting habitat for wildlife.
Green Team Leadership
RoseVilla residents lead the charge on policies and programs that address climate change and promote sustainable living.
Energy-Efficient Practices
From upgrading to drip irrigation systems to investing in battery-powered grounds equipment, we minimize our impact on shared resources while reducing emissions and noise pollution.
Thoughtful Landscaping
By planting trees and replacing lawns with low-water landscaping, we mitigate the heat island effect, sequester carbon, and support biodiversity.
An Operating System for Senior Living
Our mission is ongoing, and always active as we pursue organizational resiliency on an ongoing basis.
The Flourish Project is our systematic approach to life, with five primary impacts for the future.
- Environment Impact
From avoiding lawns that require tons of water to retrofitting irrigation systems, we go easy on the earth around us. This also makes us less water-dependent. - Financial Impact
We’re committed to being good stewards of the finances our Community has provided. That’s why we financially support many great causes around us. - Community Impact
You may have heard us say that being a champion of the human condition means extending our community outside of our own physical walls. - Wellness Impact
We promote a culture of health and well-being within and beyond our campus by incorporating the six dimensions of wellness in all that we do. - Health Impact
RoseVilla is a Blue Zones(r) project, which means we are a place where people live longer, healthier lives. In other words, we’re a longevity hot spot.
A Brighter Future, With Benefits Today
The beauty of the Flourish Project is that we don’t have to wait for future generations to see the positive impact. By integrating sustainability, we are enriching the resident experience today, reducing operational costs, and strengthening our community ties—all while contributing positively to our environment. Here are three big ways that we’re bearing fruit today:
Cost Savings
Innovations like greywater reclamation systems, energy-efficient irrigation, and waste reduction initiatives can significantly lower operational costs. Over time, these practices reduce utility expenses and improve the bottom line.
Enhancing Community Engagement
A sustainability program fosters collaboration among Residents, Team Members, and the surrounding community. Initiatives like tree planting, habitat certification, and resident-led green teams create opportunities for involvement, strengthening the sense of connection and belonging.
Increasing our Organizational Resilience
Being more self-sufficient isn’t just a route to enlightenment. It also makes good financial sense. Every program that makes us more efficient from an infrastructure and systems perspective makes us more resilient to the changing environment around us. We call this organizational resilience, and it’s a hallmark of our Flourish Project.
